Burglar Alarm

Every home and office building contains many personal items, and often many expensive items as well.  While most people are not worried about their home or office being broken into, it is a problem.  Often times those who are least expecting a break in are targeted.  These occurrences make it almost mandatory for home and business owners to purchase burglar alarm systems to protect all of their personal and valuable items.  There are many advantages of having an alarm system.  While they may be costly they are worth it.  There is no price on the safety of your home or office.

Burglar alarm systems can be broken down into four group: wired-in systems, wire-less systems, door alarms and movement detectors.

Wired-in systems are the most common type of alarm system.  They include a series of detection devices, warning devices and a control panel.  The detection device varies based on brand and can be an electromagnetic field that detects movement, a series of infrared beams that detect movement or a pressure pad.  These detection devices will all report to the main control panel.  If there is movement detected by the devices then the control panel will sound a siren or a bell.  Some systems incorporate flashing lights as well.  The control panel is the heart of the system and is usually key or code operated to be switched on and off.  Many have screens showing the basic outline of your home so in case of an alarm you can see on the screen where the detection device has located something.

Wireless systems have components that are similar to the wired-in burglar alarm system.  However, the communication between the components is by radio waves rather than electricity.  This means no wiring in needed throughout your house and the control panel can be moved as needed.

Door alarms are great detectors that are separate from alarm systems.  Most door alarms are sensitive to the movement of the door.  The alarm is set with a key or can be set to be turned on certain times every day.  If the alarm is on and the door is opened, or closed it will activate an alarm.  Many door alarms also work on windows so that alarms will sound if they are opened.

Lastly movement detectors are great for separate burglary alarm systems.  They detect unwanted movement in a room.  These devices are relatively easy to install and can be powered using a constant plugged in supply of electricity or by a battery.  Many movement detectors are disguised as household objects and they will let off a loud noise if any one enters the room they are protecting.
